【IT168 评论】诞生于1994年，曾经流行一时的Red HatLinux发行版在2003年3月发布了第9版Shrike之后便停止了更新。而2003年底从Red HatLinux衍变而来的Fedora项目，到现在已经发展了将近七个年头。社区维护，集合各种最新最前沿同时也是最不成熟的技术，半年一个新版本，每个版本支持13个月——这是一个不折不扣的小白鼠Linux发行版。由于其定位并无对广大非技术人员进行照顾，导致其现在的流行程度已经落后于后继者Ubuntu;不过早期的技术人员却大多对Fedora有着更为深厚的感情。
